Alpha Feto Protein (AFP)
What does Alpha Feto Protein (AFP) measure?
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a protein marker measured in the blood. It may be used to help evaluate certain liver conditions and some cancers, particularly liver and germ cell tumours, and to monitor known disease or response to treatment. AFP testing may also be used during pregnancy as part of prenatal screening for certain fetal conditions. Results are interpreted along with symptoms, medical history, imaging, and other laboratory tests.
