Bilirubin (Direct)
What does Bilirubin (Direct) measure?
The direct bilirubin test measures conjugated bilirubin, a yellow pigment processed by the liver and released into bile. It may be used with total bilirubin and other liver tests to help evaluate liver function, bile flow, or possible blockage of the bile ducts. Healthcare professionals may order it when assessing symptoms such as jaundice, dark urine, pale stools, or suspected liver or gallbladder conditions. Results are interpreted alongside medical history and other test findings.
