D-Dimer
What does D-Dimer measure?
This test measures D-dimer, a protein fragment produced when a blood clot is broken down in the body. It may help assess whether significant clot formation and breakdown is occurring and is commonly considered when conditions such as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism are being evaluated. A D-dimer result is not diagnostic by itself and is interpreted together with symptoms, clinical risk, medical history, and other investigations.
