Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) - Pleural Fluid
What does Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) - Pleural Fluid measure?
This test measures lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), an enzyme that may increase in pleural fluid when there is inflammation, infection, injury, or certain other conditions affecting the lungs or pleural space. It may be used along with other pleural fluid and blood tests to help assess the cause of fluid buildup around the lungs and to distinguish between different types of pleural effusion. Results are interpreted in clinical context.
