About test

What does Packed Cell Volume(PCV) measure?

Packed Cell Volume (PCV), also called haematocrit, measures the proportion of blood made up of red blood cells. It may be used to assess red blood cell levels and support evaluation of conditions associated with low or high red cell volume, such as anaemia, dehydration, blood loss, or certain blood disorders. Results are interpreted alongside symptoms, medical history, and other blood test findings.
