Prothrombin Time (PT)
What does Prothrombin Time (PT) measure?
Prothrombin Time (PT) is a blood clotting test that measures how long it takes blood to form a clot through certain clotting pathways. It may be used to assess bleeding or clotting concerns, monitor treatment with warfarin and evaluate liver function or vitamin K–related clotting problems. PT results are often interpreted along with the International Normalized Ratio (INR) and other coagulation tests.
