IHC - Calcitonin - (Outlab)
What does IHC - Calcitonin - (Outlab) measure?
Calcitonin immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a tissue-based test that detects calcitonin protein in cells. It may be used to help identify or evaluate tumours with calcitonin-producing cells, particularly when medullary thyroid carcinoma is suspected. The staining pattern can support classification of a tumour and help distinguish it from other thyroid or neuroendocrine lesions. Results are interpreted together with tissue findings, other tests, and clinical information.
