BILIRUBIN - TOTAL
What does BILIRUBIN - TOTAL measure?
This test measures the total amount of bilirubin, a yellow pigment produced when red blood cells are broken down, in the blood. It includes both direct and indirect bilirubin. It may be used to help evaluate liver and bile duct function, investigate jaundice, or assess conditions related to increased red blood cell breakdown. Results are interpreted along with symptoms, medical history, and other laboratory tests.
