LACTATE
What does LACTATE measure?
The lactate test measures the level of lactate, a substance produced when the body breaks down glucose for energy. It may be used to assess how well tissues are receiving oxygen and to help evaluate conditions associated with reduced blood flow, severe infection, or metabolic stress. Lactate levels may also be monitored during ongoing care to assess changes over time. Results should be interpreted alongside clinical findings.
