NT-PROBNP
What does NT-PROBNP measure?
The NT-proBNP test measures the level of N-terminal pro–B-type natriuretic peptide, a marker released by the heart in response to increased pressure or strain. It may be used to help evaluate suspected heart failure, assess the severity of cardiac stress, or monitor changes over time in people with known heart conditions. Results are interpreted alongside symptoms, medical history, examination findings, and other tests.
